As you may have read, the "For University" movement accused yesterday (Monday, December 3rd) of plagiarism, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu. According to them, she copied the research of a South African researcher. Manastirliu dismissed the charges by reacting as follows:
Today's accusation about my Doctorate is not one of those everyday charges, for which a denial reaction is sufficient. It is an indictment that directly affects my dignity, that of my professors and the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
"My doctorate was realized based on the FSHN Regulations, approved by the Ministry of Education and Science.
Although to understand the falsehood of the charge, it would suffice for the accusers to refer to only four to five citations from a 96-page scientific material - detached from the theoretical part of the material, and not the experimental science - yet I have sought assessment and analysis of the professors of the Faculty of Natural Sciences. Because of the nature of the work they do every day, I believe that they are those who understand, evaluate, and can draw on this study.
In fact, my paper, just like any other doctorate in theoretical part has not only these, but also other references (mentioned in 4 pages at the end of the paper), which relate to the topic of urban waste at landfill . The difference in these studies makes the difference in the chemical analysis of the concrete object of study and the analysis of these results, which confirm the originality of the work [...] "
The Minister adds that he has worked extensively in the performance of his duties, thanks to the devotion and scientific leadership of honored professors.
But the question does not end here. Journalist Edi Goga has published a picture on Facebook, where he has contacted Fannie Mnisi,
a person from South Africa, who says "is aware of the event and laughs with tears". Reason? Because he has copied himself from a Bulgarian researcher.
