Trump declares US-Iran peace deal fully signed as G7 leaders try to close outstanding issues

News in a few minutes: What's happening in the world

Donald Trump declared at the G7 summit that the US and Iran have reached a peace agreement that foresees the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the limitation of the Iranian nuclear program, while the details are expected to be officially signed in Geneva.

However, the agreement is immediately encountering difficulties, as Israel has continued military operations in Lebanon and has made it clear that it will act against Iran if it deems it necessary.

Meanwhile, European leaders remain skeptical about the sustainability of the agreement, especially on the issue of navigation in Hormuz and the easing of sanctions on Iran.

Sweden votes to back laws that strengthen its tough immigration measures

News in a few minutes: What's happening in the world

Sweden's parliament passed two new laws that toughen policies towards immigrants: one allows the withdrawal of residence permits for people deemed to lack "good behavior," while the other forces many public sector employees to report undocumented people.

The measures have been sharply criticized by human rights organizations and the opposition, which warn that the laws could lead to discrimination, racial profiling and fear among immigrant communities.

The government defends the changes as necessary to identify and deport people who have no legal right to be in the country.

Half of the world's children are exposed to at least three climate hazards, UNICEF says

News in a few minutes: What's happening in the world

According to a new UNICEF report, half of the world's children face at least three climate hazards simultaneously, such as heat waves, floods, storms and droughts, jeopardizing their health, education and survival.

The report shows that almost every child on the planet is exposed to at least one climate threat, with the most affected areas being Sub-Saharan Africa and several Asian countries such as Bangladesh, Myanmar and Pakistan.

UNICEF is calling on governments to invest in more climate-resilient infrastructure, education and services to protect future generations.

Scientists drill into Spain's only meteorite crater to find clues about Mars

News in a few minutes: What's happening in the world

Scientists in southern Spain have begun drilling up to 500 meters deep into the only internationally recognized meteorite crater in the country, hoping to discover more about the impact that occurred around 8 million years ago.

By analyzing samples extracted from underground, they aim to understand how the meteorite impact influenced the formation of the terrain and how the crater gradually filled over time.

The researchers believe the results could also help better understand geological processes on Mars and the Moon, creating comparisons with what has happened on Earth.
