Bolivia rocked by protests, US warns of 'coup'
Strong protests have been taking place in Bolivia for more than a week, with clashes between citizens and police in the capital, La Paz, where casualties, injuries and dozens of blocked roads have been reported.
Protesters are demanding the removal of President Rodrigo Paz Pereira, while the US has described the unrest as an attempted coup and expressed support for the government.
The situation has been worsened by a severe economic crisis, fuel shortages and political tensions, including the conflict with Colombia and the role of former President Evo Morales.
New threat of attack from the Belarusian front, Zelensky warns
Zelensky warned that Russia could launch a new offensive from the north through Belarus, so Ukraine is sending reinforcements to the Chernihiv–Kiev area and increasing diplomatic pressure on Alexander Lukashenko.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian drone attacks have hit Russian oil refineries hard, reducing fuel production and exports, which is hurting Moscow's revenues.
At the same time, there are tensions with the West after Ukraine expressed disappointment with some easing of British sanctions, although Keir Starmer confirmed that support for Kiev will continue and that the measures will be gradually strengthened.
Xi, Putin condemn 'irresponsible' US foreign policy at Beijing summit
Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin openly criticized US foreign policy during a meeting in Beijing, warning that the world is heading towards a "law of the jungle" where force prevails over rules.
They stressed the strong ties between their countries and cooperation in areas such as technology and trade, even though they failed to reach an agreement on a major gas project due to disagreements over pricing.
The meeting showed the growing rapprochement between Russia and China, while tensions with the US remain high and affect the global balance.
UN backs historic decision on climate crisis, despite US efforts to block resolution
The UN overwhelmingly approved (141 votes in favor) a resolution that states that states have a legal obligation to combat climate change, although the US and several major oil-producing countries voted against.
The resolution supports an international court opinion that calls for reducing the use of fossil fuels, although it is not legally binding.
Island countries like Vanuatu postponed this decision, warning that climate change is directly affecting them with floods, droughts and the risk of extinction.
