After 20 years since its launch, Spotify has revealed the most-streamed artists, albums, and songs in the platform's history. And yes, there are some names that come as no surprise.
Taylor Swift tops the list of most-streamed artists, while The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights" holds the top spot as the most-streamed song of all time. But the most interesting story isn't at the top of the list, but a little further down.
Among the hits of the streaming era like "Shape of You," "As It Was," or "STAY," a song from another time appears: "Yellow" by Coldplay, released in 2000, long before Spotify existed.
Ranked at number 15, "Yellow" is the oldest song in the top 20 and perhaps the most significant.
In an industry where everything seems to favor what's new, viral, and heavily promoted, this list shows something else: the songs that stick are the ones people keep coming back to.
In the most listened to albums, "Un Verano Sin Ti" by Bad Bunny holds the top spot, a sign that global music no longer needs English to dominate.
