The Albanian Institute for International Studies and the German Agency for International Cooperation concluded that 40% of the Albanian people live outside the territory of Albania. The result was part of a study on migratory migration of Albanians.

Our country is ranked among the countries with the highest per capita emigration. Primarily, it is about working emigrants, students, unaccompanied minors and asylum seekers and refugees.

In 2010, 50% of the domestic workforce was located in Greece and Italy. In recent years, immigrants have been heading towards Germany and France.
