Japanese princess who resigned from throne postpones wedding date because

Parents of Princess Mako of Japan said her marriage to her fiancé is postponed until her mother-in-law solves financial problems.

Mako, granddaughter of Emperor Akihito, shocked public opinion when affirming engagement with Kei Komuro, a 26-year-old lawyer with whom he was known when studying in Tokyo.

The princess, who, like all royal women, abandons the status of marrying a regular citizen, had planned the wedding for November this year. Suddenly, in February, the wedding was postponed by 2020.

The couple said they needed more time to prepare and think deeper about marriage. Also, people were worried that Mako's weddings would not overshadow Emperor's throne.

The 84-year-old emperor will be superseded by his son, Crown Prince Naruhito.

"We came to the conclusion that we do not have enough time to prepare properly for our wedding and afterlife," Mako said in a statement a few months ago. "We believe we are rushing."

Japanese media, on the other hand, report that Makos's parents, Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko, are very worried by the fact that the bridegroom mother has yet to pay off a loan she received from one of her former partners to cover her child's education.

Makos parents told their father-in-law several times that the wedding would not be held if they did not pay off the loan.

There is also the fear that the couple is being criticized for the $ 900,000 value that Mako will get from the government to adapt to life as a simple citizen.
