After birth, why did Albanian men 'neglect' the child?

Do not misunderstand the title! When we say 'neglected' we have no word about the lack of care or love of the baby, but for the little time the dads stay there when the baby comes to life.

In our country, new mothers benefit 52 weeks of maternity leave, though not paid by 100% of the salary. This time period is among the longest in the world and Europe. The opposite happens to men!

Parental leave for them in Albania is only 3 days full payment. According to an article published in the Monitor, this time period is shorter from all EU countries, after Slovakia, Malta and Luxembourg.

But how does paternity leave work in Europe?

Almost all EU countries guarantee new fathers an average of about 11 days off, though many countries do not exploit it. Balkan countries are still far from European standards: paternity leave is less than 7 days and in some cases not paid, but Albanian men, however, preside over the most "mistreated" when it comes to parental leave.

In our country, most fathers prefer to delegate childcare activities to spouses, who remain out of the labor market for a long time.
