Easter is just a few days away and as we still have time to prepare, let's talk about good Friday. What is "Good Friday"?
Good Friday is called Friday before Easter. This day, Christians recall the crucifixion of Christ, but why is it considered a good day, when according to the Bible, the son of God self-sacrificed for mankind?
It is said that this day is considered "good" for the fact that it is sacred, or as it is otherwise said, is the Lord's Friday. Mostly, in most countries this Friday is a break and people choose to go to church.
But "Good Friday" is also known by other names as "Black Friday" or "Holy Friday" that falls before the Easter weekend. This year's "Good Friday" falls on April 19, while Easter is celebrated on Sunday, 21, according to Christian believers, coinciding with Christ's resurrection.
What are some of the traditions people around the world do for good Friday?
In Spain, people who feel they have done something wrong and have repented, that day they go out on the street with long loose clothes and a big cross in their hands. But in our country, many people make a visit to church and that day they try to consume only plant products.
Egg, (as a symbol of spring, resurrection and regeneration of life), is also used as a symbol of Easter. Traditionally, Easter breakfast clutches the eggshell with each other as if Christ's tomb is now empty.
