Michelle Williams and her husband, musician Phil Elverum, split after less than a year of marriage. A source near the actress confirmed to CNN that the pair split early this year.

"Michelle and Phil split at the beginning of the year. They shared with understanding and remain friends, "said the source. Michelle's representative refused to comment.

The couple married in a secret ceremony at Adirondacks last year, as Michelle told Vogue last September. Invited were a handful of friends and two daughters of the couple,

Michelle described the relationship with Phil as "very sacred and special."

Earlier, the 38-year-old actress specially known for roles at Dawson's Creek and Brokeback Mountain experienced a three-year relationship with Heath Ledger. They became the parents of a girl before Ledger parted a life of accidental overdose in 2008.

Phil Elverum, the soloist of The Microphones and Mount Eerie, lost his Genevieve Castree wife from pancreas cancer in 2016. They had a girlfriend together.
