After canceling one, comes the next: Meet 'House of the Dragon'

The dragons are coming!

HBO's chief of programming announced this Tuesday that it has commissioned ten episodes of "House of the Dragon," a series that precedes "Game of Thrones" events.

As the title implies, the series will focus on House Targaryen and events take place 300 years before the events described in "Game of Thrones."

The series will be based on George RR Martin's book "Fire & Blood." Martin and Ryan Condal co-created the series. The latter recently performed the science fiction series, "Colony."

Director Miguel Sapochnik - who won an Emmy for the iconic "Battle of the Bastards" episode - will air the first episode and other episodes. He will also serve as an author, along with Condal.

Martin's "Fire & Blood" tells the story of Targaryen's home for generations, but the direction it will take on "House of the Dragon" remains unclear. of his wives and sisters Visenya and Rhaenys.

Aegon I is the hand behind some memorable elements of "Game of Thrones." He built King's Landing, Red Keep and forged the Iron Throne.

The announcement concluded a presentation of HBO Max, a streaming service that will be operational since May 2020. The date of the premiere of "House of the Dragon" was not made public.

It was also announced yesterday that another series preceding "Game of Thrones," starring Naomi Watts, was canceled for mysterious reasons.
