Oprah Winfrey has recently shown why she never married her partner of 30 years. The famous moderator revealed to O Magazine the secrets of her relationship with Stedman Graham and the reason she rejected his 1993 proposal.
Winfrey says that after the engagement she began to have first doubts about whether or not she wanted to get married.
"I realized that I didn't really want to have a marriage. I wanted to be thoughtful. I wanted to know if he felt worthy of being his wife, but I didn't want to make the daily sacrifices and compromises he needed a wedding. The program was the priority of my life, and we both knew that. "Winfrey said.
One of the world's most successful women added that if she and her partner had married, they probably would not have been together today.
The moderator attributes the longevity of the relationship to him, whom he says has an identity other than being "Oprah's husband."
"Everyone who has known him has marveled at his kindness. He is so positive! He wants the best for me and all the people he knows. He is a patient, strong man, with a clear and reliable logic."
She even calls their 30-year love "spiritual cooperation".
This is not the first time Winfrey has spoken about the decision not to raise a family. The philanthropist, about a year ago, said she was always against the idea of becoming a mother because she knew well what responsibility and sacrifice is required to properly raise a child.
"No one gives women the credit they deserve."
