As you may have read, Eminem released his 11th album , "Music to Be Murdered By", today, Friday, January 17th. Eminem, like most of the artists, did not in vain settle on Friday.

Before 2015, new songs and albums were released on different days. In the United States, for example, the favorite day was Tuesday, while other states had different days. But this tactic had a negative impact as piracy increased. "It means that someone can buy a song / album when it's available somewhere and upload it to a pirate site. So fans in other countries, where the song / album has not yet been released, can download it for free, ?explains Shanna Jade, director of Stem Music for Complex.

So the music industry decided to generally release albums / songs on Fridays. However, this is not the main reason because in one way or another, piracy continues. So wouldn't it be more rewarding for artists to publish new music on different days without having to select Friday, where competition is obviously higher? It's worth the argument, but there are some major reasons why there is so much new music on Fridays.

Publishing on Fridays gives artists more opportunities to head into the classifications. Billboard charts are based on the success of songs / albums from Monday to Thursday, while the release on Friday increases the advantage of an X project compared to someone released on Tuesday.

Of course Billboard doesn't have the prestige it used to be today, but it's a good reference point anyway.

Broadcasting services

Platforms like Spotify and Apple update playlists every Friday, which encourages artists to publish songs / albums on this day. "If you launch a project on Friday, show up on New Music Friday or on Hot Tracks and get your attention right away," Jade added.

While for some artists the Billboard or Spotify lists may not matter, they still choose Friday for one simple reason: It's a tradition.

Then, with as much work as there is always Monday, who's upset with music ?!
