For Pope Francis, the pandemic that has paralyzed the world is a "response of nature" to people who have long ignored the ecological crisis.

During the last interview, published in The Tablet, he said that people should see this isolation as an opportunity to reduce production and consumption as well as to learn how to understand and observe nature.

"We have never responded to partial disasters. Who is talking now about the fires that broke out in Australia? Who remembers the floods now? I don't know if that's a revenge of nature, but it's certainly a response!" said the Pope.

The pandemic has radically changed the way the Vatican operates. Now Masses held by Pope Francis are empty, while Sundays there on normal days were overcrowded with tourists.

The pope, who has had lung problems since his 20s, has tested negative for Covid-10 in both tests. All this time he has lived away from people, always has an antibacterial with him and eats in isolation. During a recent interview, the Pope said he was recovering from bronchitis and spent most of his time praying that this precarious time for humanity would pass as soon as possible.
