Ismail Kadare's daughter is appointed vice president of the UN General

Besiana Kadare, the daughter of writers Ismail and Helena Kadare, has been appointed vice-president of the United Nations General Assembly. "It's a special honor for me," she wrote on Twitter.

In a Facebook post, President Ilir Meta writes:

"Albania's appointment to the post of Vice President for the 75th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations is a very good opportunity for the dignified representation of our country in this very important world institution.
Many successes to Ambassador Besiana Kadare in the exercise of this duty and high responsibility. "

On her Twitter profile, US Ambassador to Albania Yuri Kim congratulates Besiana on her important post.

"Congratulations Besiana Kadare as Albania's selected in this important post."

Besiana Kadare served as Albania's First Secretary at the Permanent Mission at the United Nations in New York from 2002-2005. He then returned to Albania and worked at the United Nations Agency for International Development (USAID), while in 2008 he served at the Albanian Embassy in France. Between 2011-2016, she was Albania's ambassador and permanent delegate to UNESCO in Paris. Since 2016, she has been Albania's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
