John Legend has admitted he has not been the best possible boyfriend in the past. The 41-year-old EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award winner) was outspoken about the injustices he has done to his past relationships as he spoke to Dax Shepard on the latter's podcast, " Armchair Expert ”.

"I think what happened to me has to do with my life in high school and college. I was younger than all the other boys, so not many girls talked to me. So when I started to get attention, I started to like it. For a while, I escaped the term "betrayal", keeping the relationship somewhat unregulated and unclear. I was obviously selfish and not at all honest. "It was all happening before I became famous."

"At some point, you just realize that you are happier by being honest," says Legend. "You are happier being faithful and in love with a person. At one point, I simply decided that person was Chrissy (Teigen). "I did not want to deal with anyone else."

Shepard, too, admitted that he too had cheated in his previous relationships and called his behavior miserable. Now, he is married to actress Kristen Bell and together, they have two daughters. John Legend married Teigen in 2013 and the couple has two children: daughter, Luna, 4, and son, Miles, 2.

"We have talked about this issue before, but we spent the night together after the first meeting. "We were both dating other people during that period, but there was a kind of freedom between us from the beginning and we fell in love not long after."

Shepard asked if they felt pressured as a couple, as they are known in pop culture as "couple goals".

"I feel like this makes it less likely that the relationship between me and her will break down. Chrissy has 12 million followers on Twitter. If I were to make any mistake, it would be career suicide. It would be awful. "It simply came to our notice then.
