Despite the style and standard of living, Albanians live longer! According to Eurostat data, published on Monitor.al, an Albanian at the age of 65 lives 17.5 years longer than the inhabitants of the region, but 3-5 years less than their peers in EU countries.

In terms of the region, after the Albanians, the Macedonians are the longest living, with 16.4 years of life, followed by Montenegro and Serbia with 16 years.

On the other hand, the elderly of Madrid live longer in Europe. In 2018, an EU resident over the age of 65 expects to live at least another 20 years. The highest life expectancy levels at this age were recorded in a series of regions from northern Spain through most of western and southern France and in northern and central Italy, as well as the northwestern Greek region of Ipeiro.

In contrast, life expectancy for 65-year-olds is significantly lower in the vast majority of regions in the Eastern and Baltic member states. The lowest life expectancy at 65 years is recorded in two Bulgarian regions, where a 65-year-old can expect to live an average of 15.7 years.

According to INSTAT projections, it is expected that by the end of 2030, the average life expectancy for Albanian men will be 80 years, while for women 83.5.
