Sahar Tabar, a 19-year-old who recently posted highly distorted images of herself online, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, a year after she was arrested for social media activities.
Sahar Tabar, whose real name is Fatemeh Khishvand, came into the spotlight after posting a selfie where his face looked strange, as some compared him to a "zombie". At one point, before her account was blocked, she had 486,000 followers on Instagram. Sahar was accused of inciting youth corruption and disrespecting the Islamic Republic.
She called on actress Angelina Jolie to campaign for her release, saying: "The Islamic Republic has a history of torturing women. We must be united against this gender discrimination."
Charges against her have previously involved blasphemy, inciting violence, earning money through inadequate means, and encouraging young people to engage in corruption.
Medical records have also suggested she has a mental illness and a history of visits to psychiatric hospitals, which makes her sentence unexplained.
Tabar, became famous from his Instagram account, which gave him access to share with people the drastic transformation after surgeries. Three years ago it was said that the teenager performed a full 50 interventions to resemble Angelina Jolie and people were stunned by the outcome. In December 2017, Sahar was pronounced dead for the first time after the photos went viral and said he had not undergone 50 surgeries.
"Hello relatively dear follower, The
photo you are cursing, even though I do not like it, I kept ... I must clarify that I have done [an indefinite number of operations] and not 50. Pages that have talked about my photos are tainted by personal opinion. "I thought these people lived in the 18th century and had not heard of technology or makeup, so they were surprised."
