After recovering (mostly) from Covid-19, many people have discovered one of the most annoying effects: loss of taste.
People are trying everything to recover their taste, especially for the holiday season and TikTok users say they "discovered" something.
They are eating burnt oranges to regain the lost taste. Although they may smell good, there is no evidence that burnt oranges are a "cure" for loss of taste after Covid, but there are still some intriguing studies being reviewed.

Dr. Omid Mehdizadeh, an otolaryngologist, says there is something known as "olfactory retraining therapy," an experimental process that seeks to help people regain their sense of smell.
"Strong aromas, including burnt oranges, lemon peel, cloves, etc., are smelled 3-4 times a day for 3-4 months," he says. A burnt orange is not enough to make a difference, but its use for a month in a row could be another story.
A study published in 2020 in The Laryngoscope found that strong odors help people who have passed on viruses other than COVID.
"In cases of post-infectious olfactory loss, there is evidence that this therapy provides a cure."
The good news is that your aroma and taste are likely to return on their own. A study by the British Medical Journal found that 90% of people who could not smell or taste anything while infected with Covid are likely to recover within 4-5 weeks after the cells self-repair.
However, a burnt orange apparently speeds up this process.
