Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is stepping down this year to become "executive chairman."
The 57-year-old, founder of Amazon, said it was high time he made the move, which will take place in the third quarter of the year.
In a letter to staff, Bezos says he will continue to be "engaged in important Amazon initiatives," but would turn more attention to his personal climate change initiatives and space research company Blue. Origin, as well as the Washington newspaper he owns.
