A virus that steals information found on the phone, but circulates for days on WhatsApp.

Top Channel reports that the victims of this attack have become several journalists and political figures.

WhatsApp users receive the following message:

"Hello. Excuse me, I sent you a 6-digit SMS code by mistake. Can you transfer it to me? It's urgent."

The moment the hacker gets the code, he gains access to the user's phone.

Gent Progni, an IT expert, told Top-Channel that "hacking into phones in the run-up to the campaign is not a coincidence" and that "we need to prepare for scandals".

According to the IT expert, hacking phones in time before the campaign is not accidental. He says we must prepare for scandals.

"The people being hacked are all public figures. Their information is very valuable at such times."

What should you do if you happen to get access to your phone? 

The expert suggests to immediately turn off the phone and remove the sim card. 

To restore WhatsApp you need to insert the card into another phone. The moment you open WhatsApp, reactivate it from the number you had, you do not have to "back-up", as old backups can still contain viruses and automatically become part of the new phone.
