'Summer Day' in pandemic: How it is being celebrated in Albania

March 14 marks Summer Day, a day that is celebrated everywhere in Albania, especially in the city of Elbasan.

The night before, in some cities the traditional rites of Summer Day were performed. Lighting a fire in anticipation of the spring season and the departure of winter has accompanied citizens on the evening of March 13, who have crossed the fire to symbolize the "departure of evil."

The anti-Covid measures imposed by the government, have kept in control the large gatherings and celebrations, although there were also crowded squares in the city of Elbasan.

Meanwhile, in Tirana, there have been no different activities, as in previous years.

On March 14, 2019 (which was celebrated on March 17 due to bad weather), there were a number of activities throughout the day.

The streets of the former Bloc were occupied for 12 hours in a row by "Street Party", the boulevard "Dëshmorët e Kombit" was turned into a playground, "Mother Teresa" square gathered all motorcycle enthusiasts, etc.

Like every other year, this year too there was no lack of traditional holiday cakes, ballocums!
