How to treat dry heels and cracks at home

Dry and cracked heels can be uncomfortable and sometimes bleed and can occasionally lead to more serious problems if left untreated.

Home treatment should begin with hydration at least twice a day. Look for a moisturizer with a thick texture. Some moisturizers contain emollients, such as urea, salicylic acid, or alpha hydroxy acid, which help remove dead skin.

How to treat dry heels and cracks at home

Pay attention to the heels before going to bed.

Soak your feet for 10 minutes in plain water or soapy water and pat dry.
2. Then rub the heels with a foot scrub.
3. Next apply an oil-based cream (like Vaseline, healing ointment) and then wear a pair of thin cotton socks.

Do not ignore dry and cracked heels, as over time you can create deeper cracks, which increases the risk of infection. If self-care measures do not help, talk to a specialist about other treatment options.
