When a woman is abused, the Rape-aXe device will stick to a man's own genitals and he will not be able to remove it! This is a "dental condom for women" to combat abuse.
Sonnet Ehlers, the creator of Rape-aXe recalls:
"A woman came to the hospital and was raped and told me 'If I had teeth down there'."
Ehlers created the device after many years of working with sexual abuse survivors.
"If you work with rape victims and look into their lifeless eyes. "Their body is broken, their soul, their heart, everything is broken and you say, 'No, this can not go on like this,'" Sonnet said.
The Rape-aXe device has an elastic part that contains sharp blades. According to Ethlers, "It's like a tampon." He puts it in the vagina and stands behind the labia and the moment the abuser penetrates, there is no turning back, because the first thing he does is pull back and the device comes out of the victim, along with the penis.
"During this time, the abuser will seek to remove the device, will be confused and will not understand what happened to him and this is all the time the victim needs to escape from there."
Of course, the device does not stay with the abuser forever, but can only be removed in a hospital or by a professional doctor.
