The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) said in an official statement that the vocalist of the Italian band Måneskin, Damiano David, tested negative in a drug test conducted on Saturday.
The group, which was declared the winner with the song "Zitti e Buoni", denied the accusations of drug use, after some images appeared on social networks when Damiano David leaned on the table while he was on camera.
The EBU statement said that as requested by the Italian delegation, an investigation was carried out for a full review of the facts, which included the control of all footage at the disposal.
"A test for drug use was performed voluntarily by the lead singer of the group Mkinneskin, which was positive. No drug use occurred and we consider the case closed. "
During a post-festival press conference, Damiano denied drug use and said he bowed after another gang member had broken a glass in his legs.
The Måneskin group, formed in Rome, began to engage in music initially performing on the streets and in local activities. Måneskin (Danish language moonlight) gained fame at X Factor 2017. The song "Zitti e Buoni" is a manifesto for being different.
