The term "golden penis syndrome" was proposed by Sarah Lawrence, a student in an environment where 75% of people are women and only 25% men - to describe what can happen in environments (schools, cities, states) where heterosexual women outnumber heterosexual men

Basically, this means that since there are fewer boys, consequently fewer competitors, they can gain an excessive sense of self-worth and not try at all. Obviously, not every woman wants to be in a serious relationship, but for those who want to, this can be really problematic. In a slightly different perspective there is another option: Fewer boys, fewer options for girls, consequently more single girls.
