It has been a turbulent week for Facebook and Instagram as users on both platforms have reported outages. This is the second time the platforms have apparently crashed, after the global outage that occurred on October 4 for about 6 hours.
Downdector, a platform that monitors when websites crash around the world, found that 17,273 reports of outages were made on Instagram around 7.30pm UK time.
According to Downdetector, 58% of reported cases come from Instagram, which also posted a message on Twitter in response to the outage, saying it was "working to fix the problem."
We know some of you may be having some issues using Instagram right now (?). We’re so sorry and are working as quickly as possible to fix.
