Olivier Rousteing, the artistic director of the luxury fashion house, Balmain, revealed that he suffered serious injuries after a chimney exploded at his home in Paris last year.
Through an Instagram post, the 36-year-old said he had "hidden this for a long time" but was "finally ready to share" his experience, adding that the incident happened a year ago, on October 9th. 2020.
"I did my best to hide this story from as many people as possible and try to keep it a secret with my teams and friends for a long time," Rousteing wrote.
"To be honest, I'm not really sure why I was so ashamed, maybe this obsession with perfection for which fashion is known and my insecurities," he added.

The designer, who thanked the Hôpital Saint Louis hospital in Paris, said he had hidden the wounds with clothes and accessories. He said the experience made him realize that the power of social networking enabled users to "create our own unique narrative that avoids what we do not want to see or display."
"Today, I feel so free, so good and so lucky. I am starting a new chapter with a smile on my face and a heart full of gratitude," Rousteing wrote, reminding followers that "there is always sunshine after a storm."
Olivier Rousteing has been in charge of Balman since 2011 and has since collaborated with names like Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Iman Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner and Cara Delevingne.
