The need to touch the face: Where does it come from?

You see a pimple and decide to squeeze it. If you do not succeed the first time, try again and again, until something inside you tells you that you are satisfied. Then, when you put on the make-up, tease it again, because it does not look good under the covering powder. Before you know it, there is an uncomfortable hole left in your face, which make-up is impossible to cover.

Skin irritation is something each of us has experienced, and psychologists say they divide this habit into "disorder and syndrome."

Most people fall into the syndrome category. These are the people who irritate the skin once in a while. At the moment when there have been constant attempts to let go of this habit and the process has been accompanied by anxiety, we are dealing with the conduct of the disorder. Patients may avoid participating in other activities because they have a large scar on their face or because they want more time to tease their face.

Although there is no known cause, it is believed that the disorder may be genetic. According to experts, this is more prevalent in people with anxiety. Many people use it as an emotional regulator. It becomes a coping mechanism of boredom, anxiety and the feeling of fear and tension.

The same thing happens with people who fall into the category of the syndrome, but the difference is the feeling of guilt. Patients with the disorder report that they feel pleasure when squeezing acne, but then feel guilty. This practice may seem harmless at first, but it leads to infection and scarring on the face.

The only message? If you want good skin, zero marks and a life without addiction, keep your hands away from your face.
