Taulant Xhaka ends his career with the Albanian national team

Footballer Taulant Xhaka announced that he will leave the Albanian national football team, through a letter addressed to the red and black fans, the national team and the Albanian Football Federation (FSHF).

"The day I wore red and black has been and remains the most beautiful day of my life. I have been and am very proud that it was made possible. It was a dream for the whole Xhaka family, which has already become a reality. We will always be proud and grateful. "I can not describe in words the beautiful emotions and moments I spent in the red and black national team," he wrote.

Following his statement, Xhaka writes, "Like me and my brother Graniti, we grew up with patriotism for Albania and Kosovo." He adds that the reasons for leaving are related to the ongoing injuries, but not only.

"Recently I missed the red and black national team due to numerous injuries, which still continue to haunt me. For this reason and many other private reasons, I have decided to say goodbye to the red and black national team as its player, but I will be by your side with all my heart until my last breath. I will be red and black forever. "

Xhaka writes that this "is one of the most difficult and exciting decisions ever made" in his career.

In an interview a week ago, the national team coach, Edoardo Reja, spoke about the so-called "Xhaka issue", referring to the constant absence of the footballer during the last matches.

"Xhaka is not honest. He is lying and making fun of us. I did not invite him only once because he had physical problems, but I called him constantly, but he refused us less. "I am sorry because I gave everyone the opportunity, but Xhaka has left the national team this time and people should know this and this story should not continue."

Taulant Xhaka, 30, now plays for the Swiss club Basel.
