Jay-Z called Beyoncé an "evolution" of Michael Jackson, and people on Twitter split into two groups.
"Bey would be upset to say this, but Michael Jackson never did a [performance on] Coachella," the rapper told Twitter Spaces with Empire State of Mind collaborator Alicia Keys and moderator Rob Markman.
Jay-Z expressed that Bey is an evolution of the king of pop and highlighted the amazing performance at Coachella 2018.
"Find me a concert that is just as important culturally and excitingly as Coachella," he said. "Beyoncé will be one of the best singers we have ever heard."
Immediately after the comments, people on Twitter split into two groups and the debate took place in this form:
"I love Beyoncé, but do not overdo it by saying that she is better than Michael Jackson," someone wrote.
"With all due respect, Michael Jackson did not need something like Coachella all his life. Michael Jackson has had double the audience. "Michael had people who literally lost consciousness and were transported on stretchers… without offense, but MJ is incomparable," wrote another.
Others said that Beyoncé is just as talented (maybe even more so than Michael), but people do not accept her because she is a woman. "If Beyoncé were a man, you would not say that."
