Was January 17 'the most depressing day of the year'?

Yesterday (January 17) coincided with the third Monday of the month, otherwise known as "Blue Monday". On this day of the year it is said that we are all cold, without money and burdened with guilt from everything that happened at the end of the year or even earlier. The feeling of the holidays is gone and all that is left are the constant efforts to lose the pounds gained, to drink less alcohol and to become a better person.

However, experts refuse to accept it as a term saying that there is no basis and that this concept is simply a myth.

This concept was first created in 2005, by psychologist Cliff Arnall. He came up with a formula that "explained" the factors that influence the blue moon. Weather conditions, debts incurred for the holidays, expenses, low level of motivation or the feeling of doing something different are said to make the third Monday of the year, the most horrible day.

This theory, despite its veracity, has proven fantastic as a marketing strategy. People "cure" the depression of these 24 hours through good foods, beauty treatments or buying new clothes.

What if yesterday you were really down with humor and emotional state?

It was just a coincidence! On such days the best medicine is a coffee with friends or family and energetic conversations. We all have our good and bad days and the calendar is the last that defines them.

January 17th was just an ordinary Monday like all the others.
