You know what we do to the skin every time we cry

Tears are essential for eye health! Crying is a biological process that helps you express emotions and relieves pain. No matter how easily you cry or not, you have probably wondered how this process affects the skin.

It turns out that this depends on your habits during and after you cry as the skin reacts differently. For some people, it is impossible not to cry and consequently it is common for their skin to become irritated after tears. This is because the pH of our tears is higher than that of the skin.

It means that if you shed a few tears you do not risk much from skin irritation, but the opposite happens if you find it impossible to contain them. In addition to weight, the gestures you make while crying are also important. If you rub your eyes or use certain papers to wipe your face you can irritate the skin, create acne or darken its pigment.

The production of tears has an impact on our entire face. As we cry the blood vessels around the eyes, face and nose dilate and this causes redness and swelling.

However, the process of crying helps you feel much better than before. Your mood will change, your body will detoxify, release endorphins (the hormone of good feeling) as well as stress.

The problem lies if you cry uncontrollably, as it indicates that it may be a symptom of a mental or physical health problem.
