Chris Rock and Will Smith are in the spotlight online after the latter slapped Rock at the Oscars, following a comment by Jada Pinket Smith, Will's wife.
But Will, Chris and Jada seem to have had a good relationship over the years, at least until 2016.
In 1995, Will Smith and Chris Rock were both part of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air cast.
In 1999, they both appeared in "Torrance Rises",
while in 2005, Rock and Jada Pinkett Smith were part of the animated film "Madagascar".
But in 2016, Chris Rock mentioned Jada in his Oscar monologue. At the time she said she would not go to the Oscars due to the lack of inclusion in the list of nominations. "Jada said he would not come. Jada is boycotting the Oscars? Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna's overalls. "No one invited me," he said.
Rock also joked with Will who was not nominated for "Concussion" at the time. "It is not fair that Will acted very well and did not receive a nomination. You are right. "Isn't it fair that Will was paid $ 20 million for 'Wild Wild West', OK?" he said referring to one of Will Smith's least successful films.
At the 2022 Oscars, Chris said: “'Jada, I love you. GI Jane 2 ', I can not wait to see, "referring to the fact that she shaved her head. The comedian was talking about the movie where actress Demi Moore (as the character Jordan O'Neil) shaves her head.
The reason why Jada has cut her hair is related to alopecia, a medical condition that causes hair loss. "A joke about Jada's health was too much for me and I reacted emotionally," Smith said recently.
He apologized to Chris Rock, the Film Academy (which hosts the Oscars) and viewers in a recent statement.
