Do you dream of moving abroad? Of course, you are not alone. However, how much money would your work in another state cost?
A new payroll database comes in handy. The platform , created by insurance company William Russell, shows how average wages vary in all 38 countries of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The firm used data from Glassdoor to find the average salary in each OECD country for 36 different job roles and then converted those salaries into US dollars and British pounds.
The platform lists salaries for a wide range of professions, including nurses, doctors, bartenders, graphic designers, accountants, etc. (although data are not available for every job in every country).
Of course, wages can vary considerably between countries, but so does the cost of living. Switzerland and Denmark can pay very high wages, but both countries are also among the 10 most expensive countries to live in, based on the OECD cost of living index.
Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, Israel and Australia are the top 5 countries with the highest cost of living. Meanwhile, Turkey, Colombia, Mexico, Poland and Hungary are ranked as the most affordable.
