Why is Instagram asking your birthday?

You open Instagram to take a "quick" look and all of a sudden a new option appears "Add Your Birthday." You may have ignored it from time to time, but Instagram's insistence on learning your birthday is stronger.

You have no choice but to show the date and year, if you are going to continue your normal activity on Instagram. Why is the platform doing this?

Don't be paranoid. Mark Zuckerberg has no intention of wishing you a 00:00 or throwing you a birthday party. It's just a matter of protocol.

In fact, Instagram has started this request since 2019, but for those of you who created an address before this year, this option was missing. So it's just a way to update the network.

The other main reason is related to the company's policies to ensure that children under the age of 13 do not use Instagram.

Another thing you should definitely know is that you cannot edit or change your birthday. This is to avoid the fake age that children usually try to put in to create an account.

Does everyone see your birthday?

Unlike Facebook which leaves it optional, Instagram doesn't share your birthday with anyone. So, in this case, try who really remembers you without a notification from the platform or a fixed posted birthday photo.
