Nothing gets people more excited than news (or pictures) of a pregnant woman, especially when it comes from the royal family.
We have seen photos of Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle, or Sarah Ferguson, which flashed through portals, magazines, front pages of newspapers, but never, a photo of Queen Elizabeth II pregnant, with a rounded belly, despite the fact that she had 4 children: King Charles III, Princess Anne, and Princes Andrew and Edward.

All four of her pregnancies stayed out of the public eye due to the taboos of the time. Buckingham Palace did not even officially announce that Elizabeth was expecting a sweet baby, but informed the public that for a short period of time, the queen would stop her royal duties.

According to "The New York Times", in 1948, the palace published an announcement which read: "Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth, will undertake no public engagements after the end of June". Five months later, King Charles III was born.
Although it has become a royal tradition today, the queen did not present her children on the maternity stairs.
