3 key steps to delete your personal data from the Internet

Once upon a time it was possible to monitor any kind of information that was online about you. Today, with all the changes and dynamism of the Internet, personal information is not only easily accessible, but also difficult to remove.

If you often find yourself wondering how to delete everything about you from the Internet, you're not alone. According to a survey conducted in 2022, 55% of Americans expressed the desire to remove any personal data from the virtual world, while another 42% were afraid that this information would be misused by hackers.

What do you need to know to delete personal data?

1. Google yourself first

The first step is to know what information is available about you. When you share something online, you no longer have control over that data, so you should first search on Google to see what photos and information are available around you.

2. Delete, disable and clean

Once you have identified the information found, remove any type of data by deleting or deactivating any type of account. You will need to delete social network profiles and if you don't want to leave any traces, delete all accounts you use when shopping, dating accounts or others like Skype or Dropbox. Note that it will take some time until the data is completely deleted from the online world.

3. Ditch the data brokers

We are talking about sites of various organizations that may use your information to sell it to third parties. For example, when you searched for yourself on Google, you may have received results from other sites that are not directly related to you.
