Tumblr seems to be trying to win people over again. The company announced that it will review its content guidelines, allowing nudity to return to the platform.

"We now welcome a wider range of expression, creativity and art on Tumblr, including content depicting the human form (yes, that includes the naked human form)," Tumblr announced.

Tumblr was at its peak of popularity as the main blogging platform in the early 2010s, including pornography which was an essential part of many Tumblr users' experience.

But in 2018, the site banned all nudity on the platform. In 2013, at the height of its popularity, Tumblr was bought by Yahoo for 1.1 billion euros. Within a year of the porn ban, Tumblr lost 30% of its visitors and was sold for 3 million euros. Banning pornography played an important role.

At the time explicit posts were banned, a large portion of Tumblr's user base was the LGBTQ+ community. For some people, Tumblr was a place to find porn that suited their sexual interests.
