A nun who became extremely popular after winning "The Voice of Italy" has stunned viewers again as she announced that she is now a waitress in Spain.
Sister Cristina Scuccia, from Sicily, once wowed the judges, including the late Raffaella Carrà, during her audition in 2014, where she performed Alicia Keys' hit No One.
Cristina, who at the time was among the nuns in a convent in Milan, won the singing competition. She later released an album, which she gave to Pope Francis, that resembled Madonna's "Like a Virgin."
But eight years later, she announced on "Verissimo", an Italian talk show, the decision to change.
Dressed in high heels and a red suit, with a nose piercing and loose hair, she said: “I believe you have to listen to your heart with courage. Change is a sign of evolution.”
Cristina said that the fact that she is no longer a nun - a decision that was made with the help of a psychologist - does not mean that she has given up her faith. "I chose to follow my heart without thinking about what people would say about me," she added.
She said she now lives happily in Spain, where she works as a waitress.
