Denali Brehmer, 22, has pleaded guilty to murdering her best friend after an online man offered her $9 million.
According to a statement from the Alaska Department of Justice, Denali, 18 at the time, killed Cynthia Hoffman, 19, in 2019 after a bribe from someone online.
The person in question had nothing personal with Brehmer's close friend. He had simply asked that the entire crime be filmed.
"She was charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence," State's Attorney Patrick McKay said.
Brehmer's sentencing is set for Aug. 22 and he could face 30 to 99 years in prison.
In June 2019, Hoffman, Brehmer and their mutual friend, Kayden McIntosh, 19, were hiking at Thunderbird Falls in Chugiak, Alaska, when Hoffman went missing.
Hoffman's body was found two days later, bound with duct tape, with a gunshot wound to the back of the head.
During the investigation, authorities discovered that Brehmer was in an online relationship with a man named "Tyler" who claimed to be a millionaire. He allegedly offered the young woman $9 million to sexually assault and kill someone, as well as send him photos and videos of the assault and execution.

In 2019, the "man" online was identified as Darin Schilmiller, then 21, from Indiana. According to court records, he was charged with conspiring to kill Hoffman.
On February 15, Schilmiller, now 24, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder. He is currently in jail in Alaska awaiting trial, according to Alaska Media Public.
