This is one of the most common questions you may have asked yourself: Are there different types of vaginas?
First let's clarify that when we say vagina, we don't mean the vulva. Vulva is the correct term for all external genitalia, including the labia, clitoris, vaginal opening, and urethral opening. You were probably asking exactly about its shape.
Vulva come in all shapes and sizes and variety is normal.
However, we cannot say that there are "normal" or "abnormal" types when referring to the appearance of the external genitalia.
The best way to think about vulvas is that each one can be as unique as our faces: They all have the same parts, but they can still look a little different.
No two faces are the same and no vulva is the same.
If you are concerned about something about your vulva/vagina, you should call your gynecologist immediately and make an appointment.
Do vulva colors change?
Yes! Vulvae range in color from pink to darker shades of brown. They can be pink or reddish in color or they can be darker, almost brown to black.
If you have any concerns about a possible bleaching spot or mole, again, you should make an appointment with your gynecologist.
