Fifth, the truth? Nicolas Cage has a very optimistic attitude about his relationship with his fifth wife, Riko Shibata, whom he married in 2021.
Cage first married Patricia Arquette in 1995 before separating in 2001, and a year later he married Lisa Marie Presley before they filed for divorce just over 100 days later, separating officially in 2004.
Later in 2004, the "Face-Off" star married third wife Alice Kim, and a year later, son Kal-El was born, before they divorced in 2016.
And in 2019, Cage married Erika Koike in Las Vegas, but filed for an annulment four days later after saying he was "too drunk" to get married.
The 59-year-old then linked up with Riko Shibata, 27, in 2020 after being introduced to her in her native Japan through mutual friends. That same year, he proposed to her on FaceTime.
Speaking to ET, Cage explained the surprising reason he thought things with Shibata would work.
He said:
"We met in Japan and I thought she was amazing when I met her. We had a lot in common. She also liked animals and that's where our first conversation started. She told me she had 'two butterfly cats'. That was enough. I thought: 'That's all. This might work.'
Even the actor himself thinks that when it comes to women, "five is too many", but this time, he is convinced that he has succeeded!
