Awkward Story: Famous actors accidentally discover they might be oO brothers

Matthew McConaughey says he and his "True Detective" co-star and close friend Woody Harrelson are considering a DNA test after realizing they might be brothers .

Speaking on Kelly Ripa's Let's Talk Off Camera podcast, Matthew McConaughey revealed that his mother knew Harrelson's father, meaning she may have had an affair.

"We see photos and my family thinks that in many of his photos it is me. His family thinks that many of my photos are of him. In Greece, a few years ago, we were talking about how close our families were. And my mom was there and she said, 'Woody, I knew your dad,'" the actor said.

Matthew added that this comment prompted both actors to investigate their family histories. "We set out to find out what that 'knew' meant, did some math, and found out that [Woody's] father had been released from prison for a short period of time at the same time that my mother and father were in divorce process. Then there are possible places in Texas where there may have been a meeting, or a meeting, or a 'knowing' moment."

Woody's father, Charles, was a hitman who was first convicted in 1960 of armed robbery. He was imprisoned in 1973 for murder and released after five years for good behavior. In 1981, he was sentenced to two life sentences for murdering a judge. He also claimed to have assassinated John F. Kennedy and died in prison in 2007.

Matthew said they are debating whether or not to take a DNA test to confirm the relationship between them.

"Look, it's a little easier for Woody to say, 'Come on, let's do [the DNA tests],' because what does it cost him?" he said. "It's a little harder for me because I think, 'Wait a minute, you're trying to tell me that my dad might not be my dad, 53 years from now?' It's a little more difficult for me."

You are right!
