Kairan Quazi can't legally buy a drink, but he's ready to get a college degree and start working at SpaceX.
Kairan's story has gone viral after media outlets in California reported on his preparation to graduate from Santa Clara University on June 17.
Not only will he become the youngest graduate in the school's 172-year history, but he will also join a short list of people who graduated from college in their childhood.
Kairan's family first discovered his advanced intelligence when he started speaking in complete sentences when he was just 2 years old. He listened to the radio and talked to his teachers and classmates about the stories he heard.
Then, in the third grade, Kairan took several tests that showed he had far more advanced intelligence than his peers.
The teachers, pediatrician and parents concluded that mainstream education was not the right path for him. He then enrolled at Las Positas College, where he also worked as a teacher, and moved to Santa Clara to study computer science and engineering two years later, when he was 11 years old.
Recently, Kairan gave a job interview at Starlink, a satellite internet platform operated by the American aerospace company SpaceX, founded by Elon Musk.
Kairan told the Times that he was eager to be a part of Starlink because it would allow him to be a part of something bigger than himself.
"I hope I can open the door for more people like me," he said.
