Morocco earthquake: foreign rescue teams go to the earthquake zone to find survivors

Foreign rescue teams joined efforts to find survivors amid the rubble of devastated villages in Morocco's Atlas Mountains on Monday, three days after the country's strongest earthquake.

Friday's 6.8-magnitude earthquake, Morocco's deadliest in more than six decades, had an epicenter beneath a remote cluster of mountain villages a few kilometers south of Marrakech and shook infrastructure as far north as the country's coast.

The government reported that at least 2,122 people were killed and more than 2,421 were injured, many of them critically.

Trudeau's presence at the G20 summit in India came against a backdrop of tensions between his government and India over Ottawa's handling of right-wing Sikh separatists. New Delhi accuses Ottawa of turning a blind eye to the activities of radical Sikh nationalists who seek a separate Sikh homeland in northern India.
