Taylor Swift topped the 2023 MTV VMA nominations list with eight nominations, including "Artist of the Year," "Video of the Year" and "Song of the Year" for her hit song "Anti-Hero." She won in all the categories she was nominated for.

Beyoncé, Doja, Karol G, Nicki Minaj and Shakira joined Taylor as nominees for the artist of the year award, marking the first time since 2017 that all nominees in the category were women. Shakira received the Video Vanguard Award.

Demi Lovato, Shakira, Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Diddy, Lil Wayne, Doja Cat, among others, performed during the ceremony.
