5 dangerous mistakes you make with multicookers

Using a multicooker can be a way to prepare meals more easily. Such pots are electric kitchen appliances for automated cooking, which are able to boil, bake, steam, fry food, etc.

However, there are some potential safety risks associated with these devices if they are not used properly.

Failure to check the sealing ring: The sealing ring is an essential element that ensures proper sealing of the multicooker. If damaged, improperly placed, or missing, it can cause steam leakage and loss of pressure during cooking, which can affect cooking time and food safety. Such cookers work with steam pressure, so make sure the ring is well sealed.

Filling the pot beyond capacity: Overfilling the multicooker pot beyond the recommended capacity can cause food splatter, blockage of the steam release valve and poor cooking.

Not using enough liquid: Multicookers require minimal amounts of liquid (usually water or broth) to create steam and pressure cook. If you don't use enough liquid, the pressure cooker may not reach the required pressure.

Opening the lid too quickly: Opening the lid before the pressure is completely released can be dangerous. Steam and hot liquid may explode, causing burns. Always cut or use the quick steam release valve.

Improper food storage: After cooking, put the food in other containers. Leaving food in the pot for too long can lead to bacteria growth and foodborne illness.

To use such devices safely, read the relevant instructions carefully.
