The actress has some advice for all married couples, but when you hear it for the first time it doesn't seem so normal, or acceptable, let's say!
Cameron Diaz spoke candidly about what she considers to be the dream cohabitation for her and partner, guitarist Benji Madden. Guest on the podcast "Lipstick on the Rim" of authors Molly Sims and Emese Gormley, the actress said that the secret to a normal marriage between couples lies in sleeping in separate rooms, even in separate houses.
"For me, to put it in simpler words, this situation is: I have my house, you have yours. We have the family space in the middle. I go to sleep in my room. He sleeps in his room. I'm very okay with this lifestyle," Diaz said. "Of course, we have the bedroom in the middle where we can engage in our most intimate relationships," she added.
All this statement was applauded by the women present in the studio, especially after one of them complained that she was bothered by her husband's snoring in his sleep. "I've always been this way about marriage, even before I got married to my partner, who is truly a wonderful husband," Diaz added.
Studies show that sharing beds/rooms during sleep can make the relationship healthier for some couples.
If your partner snores or you prefer light/darkness - sleeping in separate rooms can bring:
- Healthier sleep
- Wake up calmer
- More passionate sex
- More time for yourself
- Healthier relationships
