Dua Lipa is tired of people thinking she gives us nothing. In her Rolling Stone cover story, the singer talked about viral dance memes in 2018.
The original meme started when Dua performed "New Rules" at the BRIT Awards 2018. On YouTube, someone wrote: “I love her lack of energy; give it girl, don't give us anything!”
The last sentence - in English "go girl, give us nothing" - was tweeted a lot and immediately people started posting videos of Dua's dances and making fun of her moves.
"It was really painful because I could finally do something that I love to do and I just couldn't do it right," she said.
Dua noted that she was busy at the time and didn't have time to make sure the dance moves were right. "Moving around the world. A lot of promos, a lot of rehearsals, a lot of everything and no time to perfect anything," she emphasized.
However, Dua entered the era of the Future Nostalgia album in 2019 and gave attention to special choreographies where she displayed all her talent.
“She went from 'go girl, give us nothing' to one of the best performances at the Grammys. This is artistic growth," is now the most liked comment on the video where people once mocked Dua.
