Austria is the leading country in Europe for women's health, ranking third in a global index, according to a new report. Germany, Denmark, Poland and the Czech Republic were the other EU countries in the world's top 10 for women's health.
This is the third year that Hologic has published the Women's Health Index, a survey of more than 147,000 participants from 143 countries and territories. Data were collected in 2022 and analyzed in 2023.
The index considers criteria such as access to health care, emotional health and food security.

"We need to make a lot of progress when it comes to preventive health care. There's still a huge gender health gap. I think for too long women's and girls' health care has been played as second fiddle everywhere in the world," said for Euronews Health Janet Lindsay, CEO of "Wellbeing of Women".
"When it comes to treating the big killers, heart disease, dementia and diabetes, it's so important that women and girls have access to tests and screenings," Lindsay said, adding that the focus on women's health is simultaneously beneficial for the economy and society.
